I could be anywhere at all–
Atlanta, Georgia Shopping Mall.

But I’m not, No I cannot lie to you–
It’s a Motel Christmas, I’m
on the road and I
feel blue…..

I’ve had some hardtimes–
No I never used to blab about ‘em
at all….

But I’m in the mood, blame the movie channel–
To be shopping in the MALL–
If I had enough money I’d be
Where everybody cared
about me….
But I’m not, I’m where I am
still alive–
It’s a Motel Christmas–
On the road I’m Still Alive….

Motel 10, just around the bend
Freeway for a porch,
HBO instead of a fire–I
got the heater on full
Happy despite it all–Alive but
Blue, It’s a Motel Christmas
What else was I to do?–

Motel 6, just for kicks–no
Christmas lights at all–
But the heater works–HBO
takes me away anywhere I
wanna go.
Where I wanna go——
Where God is
the Motel OR at the mall.
Where God is, here with me–
May it be…. A Motel Christmas, as long as we
Remember Him–Christ
is born, bring your gifts to
him like
the three wisemen–
Shoot, maybe he’d like HBO
Motel Christmas–we’ll
leave the light on for you can
you sing your way
to Heaven?
Motel Christmas, I’ll be waiting
for my checkout time;
Maybe then…. Maybe then
I’ll see the real light–
Christmas belongs, like
everything else–to God.
